JOHN M. KNIBB
Senior Vice President/Director
John Knibb joined the Divaris headquarters in Virginia Beach in 1983 as its Senior Vice President. Prior to joining Divaris, he was actively involved in office and industrial leasing as Senior Marketing Manager for Eastern International. Prior professional employment included the Virginia Peninsula Economic Development Council, Newport News Redevelopment and Housing Authority, and Atlantic Homes. He earned his bachelor of arts degree in 1977 from Virginia
Tech where he studied Urban and Regional Planning.
In 1992, he founded Land Dev., Inc. as an affiliate of the Divaris Group. He currently presides over the Land Dev., Inc. and Divaris Real Estate, Inc. offices in Chesapeake, Virginia.
John Knibb has served as State Legislative Chair for ICSC and has also served on the State Board for the Virginia Association for Commercial Real Estate. Regionally, he has served as President of the Hampton Roads Association for Commercial Real Estate; Chairman of the Chesapeake Hospital Foundation Board; Chairman of the Presidents Council for the Hampton Roads Association for Commercial Real Estate; multiple terms on the Chesapeake Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors; and Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Saint Paul’s United Methodist Church.
Recognized for his expertise in land sales and retail development, he has maintained a fifteen year relationship with Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. and has successfully accomplished over 30 Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club developments in Virginia and North Carolina. In addition to his land/retail development and leasing expertise he has successfully master-planned numerous mixed use developments in the Hampton Roads Region of Virginia.
