MICHAEL B. DIVARIS

President

Michael Divaris is the President of the Divaris Real Estate Group of companies which includes Divaris Real Estate, Inc. and Divaris Property Management Corp. The Company currently employs over 200 personnel and has offices in nine cities on the East Coast of the United States. The Company is a full service brokerage firm with a portfolio in excess of 24,000,000 square feet in management and leasing assignments.

He heads up the Office Leasing and Investment Sales Divisions and is responsible for corporate real estate services to national clients including: Patton, Harris Rust & Associates; Hayes Seay Mattern and Mattern; Dermalogica; and ALLTEL Communications. Additionally, Michael serves as consultant for pre-development of the office components of mixed-use properties.

In 2005, Michael was appointed to the Board of Directors of The CORE Network, a national group of over 70 commercial real estate companies with affiliates throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Asia and Europe. This organization represents corporate and institutional clients, as well as tenants and buyers in all aspects of leasing, development, and managing properties, acquisitions and land sales. Additionally, he serves on the Old Dominion Real Estate Board, the Capital Campaign Committee for the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts, and is a past President of the Virginia Stage Company.

After graduating from the University of Natal, Durban, South Africa with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Business Administration and Business Finance in 1972, Michael Divaris joined the Anglo American Corporation and was appointed as Personal Assistant to the Chairman of the Anglo American Property Company. He was responsible for the asset management of the group’s portfolio in the Cape Province. Michael and Gerald Divaris co-founded Divaris Real Estate in Cape Town, South Africa in 1974 and together grew the business into one of the largest South African commercial real estate firms with offices in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Pretoria. In 1982, Divaris Real Estate opened its first U.S. office in Virginia Beach, Virginia where Michael Divaris permanently relocated in 1987.
