SANFORD M. COHEN
Chief Operating Officer
As COO, Sandy has the responsibility for overseeing the management of the operations of the Company including finance, investments, asset management, administration, information systems, human resources and accounting. He is responsible for all of the contractual affairs of the Company and handles specific client account relationships. He serves on the Executive Committee of the Divaris Group along with the President and the Chairman of the Company.
He has over eleven years of experience in the real estate field. His most recent appointment was as Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Member of the Executive Committee of Goodman Segar Hogan, Inc./ Monroe Construction Management, Inc. There his responsibilities included: management of the Finance Division comprising four departments of real estate brokerage, development, management and construction company including company finance and accounting, property management accounting, information services (EDP), and personnel and administration; investment analysis, maintaining relationships with company financing sources, case management/treasury, setting administrative policy, financial reporting, taxation and budgeting, and overseeing the day-to-day operations of a division of 23 staff members.
Prior to that, Sandy was Audit Senior Manager for Price Waterhouse. He was responsible for a broad range of business activities including financing, acquisitions and registrations. Coordinated all client services in the banking, retail and broadcasting industries.
Sandy received a Bachelor of Science in Commerce with a concentration in accounting from the University of Virginia in 1978. He is a Certified Public Accountant, and a Member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Hampton Roads Association of Commercial Real Estate, Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants and is President of the Virginia Beach Central Business District Association.
