SANFORD M. COHEN
Sandy serves as both the Chief Operating Officer of the Divaris Group of companies which includes Divaris Real Estate, Inc. and Divaris Property Management Corp., as well as the President of Ingenuity Development LLC.
Within the Divaris Group, Sandy has the responsibility for directing the financial affairs and overseeing management of the operations of the company and is also responsible for specific client account relationships. In addition to his brokerage experience, Sandy has had extensive experience in financing, including both debt and equity for projects and operating companies. He directs the Company’s A.R.M.S. (Asset Repositioning and Monetization Services) division which serves the lending and loan servicing industries. The A.R.M.S. group is a full-service real estate services organization which manages special assets for the financial community. He also acts as a receiver on behalf of lenders and loan services who do not want to initiate foreclosure proceedings. In addition, he oversees the company’s surplus disposition assignments and has been instrumental in the disposition of over 2 million square feet of space. He serves on the Executive Committee along with the President and Chairman of the company.
As President of Ingenuity Development LLC, he is responsible for all development and redevelopment initiatives for the company in Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina. Ingenuity Development, LLC specializes in the development of grocery-anchored retail centers and mixed-use projects with a retail core.
Sandy has 20 years of experience in the real estate field. He received his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Virginia in 1978. After graduation, he spent eight years with Price Waterhouse. Following that, he was the Chief Financial Officer for Goodman Seger Hogan, Inc., a regional brokerage and development company based in Norfolk, Virginia. Sandy received his certification as a CPA in 1980 and still retains his membership in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants today.
Sandy has served on various community and business boards. He is a former President and past board member of the Virginia Beach Central Business District Association, as well as currently serving on the boards of Virginia Beach Vision, Hampton Roads Economic Development Alliance (appointed by the Virginia Beach City Council), and the Hampton Roads Association of Commercial Real Estate.
