Richmond, Virginia: John Wingfield, principal of the Richmond office of DRE, announced the appointment of Lawrence R. Agnew and Zachary W. Means as vice presidents in the company’s Central Virginia office.
Lawrence R. Agnew has represented local, regional and national retailers in the site selection and development of retail and commercial properties throughout a multi-state area of the Mid-Atlantic, including freestanding properties, in-line shopping centers, outparcels, big-box retail, suburban power centers, and life-style centers.
Agnew has been one of the top producing sales and leasing brokers in the Mid-Atlantic region. Over the last ten years, he has represented and negotiated in excess of $150 million in sales and lease transactions with local, regional and national developers and retailers. In 2006, he joined The Wilton Companies’ Third Party Brokerage Group. In the 1980’s, Agnew served as a commercial agent with Morton G. Thalhimer in leasing and development capacities specializing in retail/investment brokerage.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Virginia Commonwealth University. He has served as a board member on the VCU Foundation and a board member on Bon Secours St. Mary’s Health Care Foundation. Agnew has received recognition in the commercial real estate industry, including Richmond Association of Realtors (RAR), Ten Consecutive Year Recipient of the Distinguished Achiever award; RAR, Annual Recipient of the Distinguished Achiever Award since 1989; Morton G. Thalhimer, Inc., Top 5 Producer annually from 1997 to 2005; RAR Commercial Transaction of the Year in 1994; Number One in Sales for Thalhimer in 2005.
Zachary W. Means has emerged as a pre-eminent industry leader in the retail and multi-family sectors. His disciplines include site selection, developer representation, pre-leasing, investment sales and consulting throughout Virginia, West Virginia and North Carolina. His clients include: retailers, top national developers, insurance companies, private investors, opportunity funds and real estate investment trusts. Means has been published several times by Southeast Real Estate Business magazine on the state of Central Virginia’s Retail Market.
His career in real estate began with Bluegreen Land and Golf as the marketing director. Means then joined Advantis GVA in 2002 and was one of the top five agents in its Richmond office. Later, he joined The Wilton Companies in 2005 and played a major role in the company’s new business development.
Means earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. His industry and community involvement includes being a founding member of Moving Richmond Forward, president of VMFA Friends of Art, committee chair of HYPE YP Summit, a member of OPUS and Urban Land Institute Young Leaders.
