Charlotte, North Carolina: Gerald Divaris, chairman and CEO of Divaris Real Estate Inc. (DRE), announced the signing of five leases totaling 47,663 square feet of retail space in North and South Carolina.
Rose’s Department Store has leased 35,000 square feet of retail space in a former Bi-Lo supermarket located at 429 West McIntyre Street in Mullins, SC. Variety Wholesalers, Inc. operates retail stores under the names Rose’s, Popes, Eagles, Super Dollar, Bill’s Dollar Stores, Super 10, and Maxway. The Rose’s Division consists of 112 stores that offer an extensive assortment of retail merchandise including both hardlines (toys, health and beauty aids, housewares, furniture, sporting goods, snacks, etc.) and softlines (clothing, accessories, jewelry, etc.). Diana Teitsma, principal in the Charlotte office of DRE, negotiated the lease on behalf of the landlord, Ahold Lease U.S.A., Inc. Teitsma is handling the disposition of a portfolio of several dozen surplus Food Lion and Bi-Lo grocery stores in the Southeast.
Teitsma also handled the negotiations on behalf of the landlord, Greenville ONE, LLC. for a lease with Tupelo Honey Café, Inc. for 5,000 square feet in ONE, a new mixed-used development located at the intersection of North Main Street and Washington Street in Greenville, SC. This will be the fifth location for the tenant that operates Tupelo Honey Cafés in Asheville, NC and Knoxville, TN. The cafés feature transformed Southern favorites– from fried chicken to sweet potatoes to catfish.
In the Divaris-leased and –managed Biltmore Square Mall, a lease renewal was signed with Shoe Dept. for 4,598 square feet of retail space. The regional mall, located at 800 Brevard Road in Asheville, NC, is anchored by Belk, Dillard’s, Davis Furniture and Cinebarre. Teitsma represented the landlord TSLF Biltmore, LLC. in the lease negotiations.
Two leases were signed with tenants for retail space in the Divaris-leased and –managed Town Center Business Center, located at 1001 East WT Harris Boulevard in Charlotte. Edo’s Professional Braiding and Weaving signed a lease for 1,066 square feet in Town Center Business Center. The hair braiding salon will join CosmoProf, Allstate Insurance, UPS, Onin Staffing, Monterrey Mexican Restaurant, Kabuto Japanese Steak House and University City Vision in the property. Also, Well Chiropractic renewed its lease for 1,969 square feet of office space in Town Center Business Center.
