Gold’s Gym Leases Over 50,000-SF in Chesapeake, VA CHESAPEAKE, VIRGINIA: Gold’s Gym has leased 50,921 square feet of retail space in the Divaris-leased former Funscape property located at 600 Jarmen Road in the Greenbrier section of Chesapeake, Virginia. The freestanding building is situated at Crossways Shopping Center and across from Greenbrier Mall. The building is also occupied by Regal Cinemas. Gold’s Gym is the largest co-ed fitness gym in the world. Gold’s Gym originally opened in Venice, California in 1965. Since then, it has expanded to include over 650 fitness facilities in 45 states and 23 countries serving nearly 3 million members. Internationally, Gold’s Gyms can be found in such exotic locations as Bombay, India, Moscow, Russia and Tokyo, Japan. The Chesapeake location, promoted as one of “The Area’s Most Comprehensive Fitness Centers,” offers personalized fitness programs, a climbing wall, full court basketball, volleyball, racquetball, tanning, a juice bar, a pro shop and child care in addition to the traditional treadmills, lifecycles, stairmasters, and aerobics classes. Launching more than 100 fitness centers around the globe in 2003, Gold’s continues to solidify its position as the most recognized brand in fitness. During the past year Gold’s has also expanded into Asia, Mexico, Egypt, Central and South America confirming the company goal to develop 1,000 gyms worldwide by the year 2005 and to make company-owned gyms one of their priorities. The landlord, Regal Cinema, Inc., was represented by Lori Campbell and Anne Millar of DRE’s Virginia Beach office. This is the third location for Gold’s Gym in the Hampton Roads market.
