Big Kmart-anchored Laurel Glen Shopping Center .

2007 Sees Deals Signed in Metro
DC
ROCKVILLE, MARYLAND –In 2007, the metropolitan Washington, DC
area’s retail and office leasing activity was thriving. And the
promise of distinctive retailers entering the “recession-proof”
market indicates that the region’s commercial real estate is still
viable, despite a slowdown in residential sales throughout Washington, D.C., Maryland and Northern Virginia.
One of the transactions completed by
Divaris Real Estate, Inc. in 2007 was the signing of a lease with Tractor
Supply Company for 24,727 square feet of retail space in Laurel Glen Shopping
Center, located at 45315 Alton Lane in California, Md. Tractor Supply Company
joined Big Kmart, Food Lion and Cato in the Divaris-leased shopping
center. Headquartered in Brentwood, Tenn.,
Tractor Supply Company operates more than 698 stores in 37 U.S.
states, supplying daily farm and ranch maintenance supplies to farmers and
ranchers as well as suburban and rural homeowners. Susan McGee, vice
president of shopping center leasing for DRE, represented the landlord,
Laurel Glen Inc., in the lease negotiations with Tractor Supply Company.
McGee also represented the landlord,
Mid-Sussex Associates LP, in the lease negotiations with Goodwill Industries
of Delaware for 8,800 square feet of retail space in Mid-Sussex Shopping
Center located on Route 113 in Millsboro, Del. The retail store and donation
center joined Rose’s, Shoe Show and WC Clothing Outlet at the
Divaris-leased and -managed shopping center. Goodwill Industries of
Delaware is the oldest non-profit organization providing vocational services
in the State of Delaware.
Working on behalf of office tenant
representation client, LeClair Ryan, Brett Womack and Debbie Wake, of
DRE’s Richmond office
secured a lease for 8,782 square feet of office space at 1101 Connecticut
Avenue, N.W. in Washington, D.C. Founded in 1988,
the Richmond, Va.-based LeClair Ryan is a full-service law firm with over 135
attorneys. This was the fifth transaction on which Divaris Real Estate
has represented the law firm. Other leases completed on behalf of
LeClair Ryan were for office space in downtown Richmond
and in The Town Center of Virginia Beach in the city’s Central Business
District at Pembroke.
