Corporation Consolidates in Hampton Roads
NORFOLK, VA: SIGNAL Corporation, one of the nation's fastest-growing high-technology companies, is consolidating two Hampton Roads locations into a 42,000-square-foot space in Norfolk, Virginia. Gresh Wall, vice president of Divaris Real Estate's corporate services division, represented this privately-owned company in the negotiations for its relocation to 4600 Village Avenue in Norfolk, Virginia. "As our presence in the Virginia Beach/Norfolk area has grown considerably over the past five years, it made sense for us to consolidate our resources into one facility that provides our customers with direct access to all of our services," says Michael Dolton, SIGNAL's vice president of corporate development and communications. The site selection was based upon the proximity of the building to SIGNAL's clients, the ratio of office to warehouse space and, most importantly, the number of available parking spaces, Wall explains. SIGNAL needed a higher parking ratio than is average for a typical flex building. Also paramount to the selection of this location was the immediate availability of the space. Dolton explains that not only did SIGNAL want to provide its customers and employees with ample parking, but the company also saw this space as a means for future growth, having greater flexibility within the facility. According to Dolton, the Norfolk facility will house more than 250 SIGNAL employees working on a variety of tasks including warehousing, multi-media production, testing and integration, primarily to support the United States Navy. Founded in 1987, SIGNAL is a diversified high-technology services company specializing in defense contracting for the Navy. Headquartered in Fairfax, Virginia, it employs 1,600 professionals in more than 65 locations nationwide. SIGNAL is a leader in providing information technology, engineering, management and multimedia services to federal and commercial clients. As a recent recipient of the Arthur Andersen Best Practices Award for Exceeding Customer Expectations and an ISO 9001 registrant, SIGNAL proves its commitment to quality customer service. The company's values, along with its professional and experienced staff, are reflected in its motto, "Leaders by Performance." Cass Panciocco, SIGNAL's executive vice president of engineering and management services, says, "SIGNAL is committed to our customers and our employees and is confident that this move to a larger facility will enable the company to better serve both parties."
