Trader Publishing: Buying and Selling Made Easy NORFOLK, VIRGINIA: Imagine being able to sell your boat, buy a home and find a job all by looking in publications strictly devoted to helping you with your targeted need. Better yet, imagine being able to buy or sell any personal item anywhere in the nation without leaving your home. Headquartered in Hampton Roads, Virginia, Trader Publishing Company produces almost 700 locally-based classified advertising publications in the United States. Currently, Trader has over 300 field offices in over 165 cities, with publications serving approximately 80 percent of the country. The company employs approximately 9,500 people and continues to grow. With this growth, Trader is constantly seeking sites to accommodate its rapid expansion. In this pursuit, Trader has used Divaris Real Estate as its real estate services provider, nationwide. Over the past several years, Divaris has been instrumental in accommodating Trader Publishing and its Employment Guide operations in over 20 locations throughout the country. Trader's prototypical sites include a single-story office building with close proximity to interstate access and to airports. "In order to meet Trader's needs in each market, Divaris appoints one of its network partners located in the particular region in which a site is targeted. This associate provides specialized, hands-on research leading to the perfect property," says Michael Divaris, president of Divaris Real Estate. "We have been a good resource for Trader Publishing and its affliates as we are located in their same geographic area, and we are available 24-hours a day, seven days a week to provide specialized advice and assistance," states Divaris. "Divaris Real Estate has an excellent national network of real estate associates who can service any assignment, large or small." Trader Publishing Company is the nation's largest publisher devoted to classified and photo guide advertising publications. Formed on April 1, 1991 as a partnership between Cox Enterprises, Inc. and Landmark Communications, Inc., Trader Publishing Company has built its business on a focused strategy dedicated to creating efficient media for both buyers and sellers. Both Cox Enterprises and Landmark Communications realized a common business focus. Moreover, they had a minimal market overlap. As a result, the combination produced the largest classified advertising publisher in the country. Trader's guides are targeted to buyers and sellers of homes, used merchandise, cars, trucks, boats, RVs, motorcycles and other vehicles; employers and consumers seeking workers or jobs; apartment owners and prospective tenants; travelers seeking motel discounts; and parents in need of goods and services for their children. The emergence of the Internet led Trader to begin the development of electronic versions of its products, including the launch of Traderonline.com in early 1996. Since that time, additional Trader Internet sites have been formed. Most recently, Michael Divaris represented Trader's Employment Guide in negotiations for a 3,360-square-foot office space located at 9340 South 140th Street in Omaha, Nebraska. Other leases negotiated on behalf of Trader by Divaris include: 5,040 square feet of office space located at 3150 Stage Post Road in Bartlett, Tennessee; 4,782 square feet of office space located at 15946 Midway Road in Addison, Texas; 3,521 square feet of office/flex space in the Forbes Technology Center located at 4200 Forbes Road in Lanham, Maryland; and 51,000 square feet of office space in the Convergence Center I, located at 295 Bendix Road in Virginia Beach's Central Business District at Pembroke.
