A little over two years ago Chris Stone, President of Clark Nexsen, a local architecture and engineering firm, met with Divaris’ President, Michael Divaris, about relocating their offices. “It started what would be a very interesting journey for us,” said Stone. Thursday marked the grand opening of 4525 Main Street, the newest tower in the Town Center of Virginia Beach. The new construction brings more than 200,000 square feet of Class A office space, 290 apartments, 975 parking spaces and more than 25,000 square feet of first-floor retail space.
“We have produced a project that has transformed the city’s core, 13 years after the first groundbreaking. Town Center provides 800 residences, 375 hotel rooms and is home to more than 100 companies, half of which are new to Virginia Beach and a third are new to Hampton Roads. It’s become the optimum meeting place for residents and tourists alike,” declared Lou Haddad, CEO of Armada Hoffler Properties.
Clark Nexsen designed the tower, taking 80,000 square feet over four floors for their new headquarters, which will house 350 employees. “We think Hampton Roads has a lot to offer, especially in Virginia Beach. One thing we were looking for was really great amenities for our employees, and Town Center has really met all of our expectations. Our employees live, work and play here…the amenities are second to none,” said Stone.
Mayor Will Sessoms was present to praise everyone who made this project come to life in what has been a difficult five years for the economy. “Instead of saying we just can’t do this, or there will be a better time later…they took the effort, they did the homework, and they found a way to do something – and not the easy way. I had great expectations about what would occur here, but it’s far exceeded what I could have ever imagined,” stated the Mayor.
Everyone was invited to tour Clark Nexsen’s state of the art office space, which features bright and open collaborative workspaces, conference rooms with barn-door style openings to accommodate company luncheons and “green” kitchens with real dishes for the employees to use at lunch.
Approximately four floors remain available for lease, including a 22,400-square-foot penthouse on the 15th floor.
