CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA: Divaris Real Estate, Inc. (DRE), announced the completion of a lease with Aramark for 13,000 square feet in “The Yard,” an open-air food hall concept at Charlottesville’s 5th Street Station.

Aramark, official licensee of over 100 food service brands, leased the remaining space in The Yard at 5thStreet Station, located at 5th Street and Interstate-64 in Charlottesville. Individual storefronts will be demised between six concepts. New, first-in-market companies include Pei Wei Asian Kitchen, Caribou Coffee, BurgerFi, and Wing Zone.

Chickie’s and Pete’s, a Philadelphia-based sports bar and crab house, will open its first location in Virginia. It is also leasing a shipping container for additional outdoor beverage and food service. Auntie Anne’s hand-rolled soft pretzels is the final concept in the mix.

Erica Rorrer, Mary McGovern, Lawrence Agnew and Zach Means represented the landlord in the lease negotiations with Aramark.

The Yard has a special “sip and stroll” ABC license that authorizes some mixed-use developments in Virginia to allow shopping center customers to carry open alcoholic beverages purchased from restaurants in the shopping center while they shop. Unlike other ABC licenses, with this law customers can roam around a shopping center, including in stores, with open containers. The purpose of the law is to encourage patrons to spend more time at the shopping centers and take advantage of the various businesses and events.

5th Street Station is a 73-acre property that Divaris leased from the ground up. Existing tenants include Wegmans, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Field & Stream, A.C. Moore, Haverty’s, Planet Fitness, Petsmart, Timberwood Tap House, Red Mango, Mattress Warehouse, Hand & Stone, Sentara Family Medicine, GNC, Sprint and Verizon.
