David Bickford, primarily focuses on the representation of Landlord and tenant Industrial transactions, buyer acquisitions, dispositions and development, throughout southeastern Virginia, and northeast North Carolina. He has over 25 years of experience in real estate negotiations and construction. His leasing and sales portfolio includes, high bay manufacturing clients from Asia to Logistic and 3PL companies in Virginia and North Carolina. David is dedicated, hardworking and a leader of the Industrial team at Divaris. His recent transactions include:

  • Acquisition 135 Acres of land to Sentara Hospitals,
  • Disposition 35 acres for Vulcan Materials, NYSE: VLCN
  • Acquisition of 135K of High Bay Warehousing for GMAX Medical Supplies
  • Leasing 50K sqrft of High Bay at 221 Progress Parkway
  • Leasing 101K sqrft High Bay in Toano, VA for ABC Roofing
  • Acquisition of 50K Sqrft High Bay in Commerce Park, to Sealtron
  • Development 150,000 sqrfft Retail Tanglewood Pavilions

David formerly represented the Portsmouth Economic Development Agency as well as Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority with the listing of several land parcels they wish to sell to developers and/or retailers with the goal of increasing the quality of the retail product in the City of Portsmouth.

David is the owner of several medical office buildings, and executive offices in Southeastern North Carolina.

In 2015 David pre-developed 150,000 sqrft of the Tanglewood Pavilions Shopping Center to: Hobby Lobby, Ross, TJ Max, Dollar Tree, Cato, Hibbett, Rue 21, Rack Room Shoes, Sleepy’s, AT&T and Zaxby’s. When the center opened its doors in November 2015 it was 95% occupied, with a second Phase delivered in 2018.

In 2011 David was honored by the Hampton Roads Commercial Alliance with the Rookie of the year Award for billing more transactions than any other incoming agent in Hampton Roads. He also took all his shopping centers from 60 percent leased to fully occupied in under six months. David also has experience as vice president of Bickford Construction II, Inc., where he oversaw construction and property management.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications with a minor in Business from East Carolina University and is a licensed real estate broker in the state of Virginia and North Carolina.
