Sam McCoy is Vice President of Divaris Real Estate’s regional office in Roanoke, Virginia. McCoy brings to Divaris more than 38 years of experience in all aspects of corporate real estate. He is tasked with strategic planning, acquisition, site development, sales and leasing of commercial properties throughout the Mid-Atlantic region with an emphasis on the southwest Virginia markets.

Previously, McCoy held the position of director of real estate at Lowe’s Companies, Inc., in Wilksboro, North Carolina. He was responsible for the development of new Lowe’s Home Improvement store sites in the Mid-Atlantic region, primarily the Baltimore/Washington, D.C., market and the states of Maryland and Virginia. McCoy also handled property management functions including common area maintenance cost reviews, operating cost reductions and lease renegotiations.

Throughout his career, McCoy oversaw acquisition and new store development and surplus dispositions as an in-house real estate manager for Costco, Toys R Us, Hechinger’s, Lowe’s and Safeway Food Stores.

Currently McCoy represents Costco in western Virginia and in West Virginia, and Circle K in western Virginia. He is working on several new development projects in the Roanoke Valley and in Northern Virginia to accommodate his tenant clients, as well as for new confidential retailers considering entering the highly competitive Northern Virginia market. McCoy is also working on Divaris’ State of Virginia/Real Estate Team covering the western part of the State.

He holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (M.B.A) from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Bridgewater College, Bridgewater, Virginia.
