With over 33 years in the industry as both a broker and developer, Read F. Goode, Jr. uses his broad base of experience and relationships to turn his client’s problems into solutions. He has leveraged his pre-recession twenty years of new suburban retail and office development into a post-recession practice of urban re-development. Read frequently acts as both a fee-developer and leasing agent for urban adaptive-reuse projects as well as a retail tenant rep assisting retailers in market rollouts.
Read has transitioned from managing our twenty brokers in the Central Virginia Regional Office located in downtown Richmond to a full-time brokerage and fee-development practice.
Read and his partner Cheryle Toy are the only commercial brokers/fee developers in their market with extensive experience in both fields as Principals. This partnership and skill set allows their practice to cover a broad range of services from leasing & sales brokerage through land development and redevelopment of obsolescent properties. They work for many closely held families and businesses throughout the region to position their real assets with maximized value while minimizing the risks inherent with development. Prior to 2010, he was President of Goode Land Company, where he established and managed a commercial land development firm that acquired and developed eight tracts of raw land totaling fifty acres into retail and office destinations valued at $75 million, in addition to multiple third-party fee development and brokerage accounts.
Read recently completed the adaptive reuse redevelopment of the 97,000 sf iconic HandCraft building in Scott’s Addition. Goode holds a Bachelor of Science in Managerial Economics from Hampden-Sydney College.
